FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Have questions? Find everything you need to know about joining AIChE Cairo University and getting involved.
1. What is the AIChE Cairo University Student Chapter?
We are the official student chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), hosted atthe Chemical Engineering Department, Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University (CUFE).
Our mission is tobridge the gap between academic study and industry, including petroleum, petrochemicals, fertilizers, water treatment, and gas. We do this through technical workshops, international competitions, and fieldactivities that prepare students both professionally and technically.
2. What sets AIChE Cairo University apart from other student activities?
We are the official student chapter of AIChE, the world's leading professional community for chemicalengineers, and everything we do is built around the field.
Four things set us apart:
• Real technical depth: Structured workshop tracks, peer tutoring bootcamps, a quarterlytechnical journal, and podcast interviews with professors and industry experts. We also run alocal Chem-E-Car competition, from theory to building the car, and ChemE Shark Tank forstudent startups.
• Industry connection: Technical sessions, panel talks, and a process safety awareness campaignkeep what you learn tied to how the industry actually works.
• A structured path to grow: Every member is trained by their committee, tracked through a fairevaluation system, and recognized for their contribution. Members with leadership potentialcan join our Leaders Program and help lead future seasons.
• A culture built on "one family, one chemistry": We are a community that gives back, throughschool visits, charity work, and community activities, and where no one is left to figure thingsout alone.
3. Is membership restricted to Chemical Engineering students?
It depends on the type of committee:
Non-technical committees (Human Resources, Training & Development, Public relations & ExternalRelations, Marketing, Web Development, and Operations) are open to all Cairo University students, regardless of faculty or major.
Technical committees are open to Chemical Engineering and Petrochemical Engineering students, sincetheir work builds directly on the core curriculum of these two programs.
Whichever path you choose, you'll be part of the same chapter, working on the same events andprojects, and benefiting from the same network and opportunities.
